I feel like we have been transported back to Europe and are staying in a French village. Quebec City is a beautiful walled town dating back to the 1600’s and is one of the oldest cities in North America. We spent a Beautiful couple of days here before heading back home. Je suis amoureux – I am in love ❤️
From Niagara Falls we headed to Montreal. Here everything is French, from the street and shop signs to the cafes and little cobblestone laneways. We have a beautiful loft apartment in the centre of old Montréal right up the road from the famous Notre-Dame Basilica. On Sunday we woke to the beautiful sounds of the cathedral bells! It’s hard to believe we are still in Canada!
We had two spectacular days here at Niagara Falls. First we upgraded to the presidential suite with a magnificent view of all three falls, then we walked over the falls, cruised under the falls, climbed behind the falls and crossed over the falls. Then we watched fireworks over the falls, went to sleep next to the falls, watched the sunrise across the falls, had breakfast by the falls and took lots and lots of photos of the falls!
After a wonderful 10 days in the Rockies we headed East to Toronto, where we had a lovely few days with out Toronto cousins!
The Icefields Parkway is a 230 kilometer mountain highway that runs between Banff and Jasper National Parks. They say it’s one of the most scenic drives in the world! What do you think?
Today we visited The Athabasca Glacier, a 10,000 year old glacier about a 2 and 1/2 hour drive from Banff in the Jasper National Park. It was an amazing experience, cold and slippery but breathtaking non the less!
Today, we ventured on a gondola up to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, which over looks the beautiful village of Banff. Once we reached the top we took in the magnificent views of 6 different mountain ranges and then took the boardwalk to the Cosmic Ray Station and Sanson’s Peak. Spectacular!
Today, being my official birthday in Canada, we went to Lake Louise , a beautiful emerald coloured lake, 30 minutes from Banff. We started off with a buffet breakfast at the Fairmont Chateau built in the late 18 hundreds right on the lake. The rooms were $1,000 a night so we opted for the buffet instead and then a lovely relaxing walk around the lake! Happy Birthday to me 😊
Hired a car today and hit the road from Vancouver to Banff right in the middle of the mountains. The landscape was ever changing from snow topped mountains to pine tree hills and bubbling emerald creeks in between. The town of Banff is the gateway to the Rockies and has beautiful views everywhere you look. Our hotel is overlooking the mountains, I may never want to leave!
Our Canadian adventure starts in Vancouver. We had three amazing days here and was blessed with beautiful weather. Vancouver is a very cosmopolitan city surrounded by mountains with beautiful parklands and walkways which go all around the harbour. Here are a few pics!
